This is an off the cuff take on all things layoff, but if you were a large corporation that has spent the last couple of years bringing in fantastic profits and utilizing government assisted subsidies to do large stock buybacks, you might be a bit concerned with the potential recession and it’s effect on stock price and the often related C-Level bonuses.
So concerned that you might use said recession as an excuse to dump a bunch of employees to lower expenses, improve profits before EoQ and pump that price up.
That’s just me talking, though…
