In the course of a regular existence, one devoid of things like mortality and Covid-19, one of the worst things that can happen to a person is the failure of the coffee pot. The circumstances tragic, the consequences dire, the effects felt down through the generations. In short, things are not well in the Universe until such straits are mended, post haste.
So I ventured forth today, to do battle at the formidable Costco. Naturally, I prevailed and came away with this. And, me being me and no other, it immediately reminded me of a classic film from one of the greatest directors of all time.
Some good explanations here, both about the data and the conclusions being drawn from it. One of the hardest things to get in the midst of an emergency is good information, which informs everything you do afterwards. As we get better information, and more consistent methods of collecting and sharing it, we will see more accurate forecasts. And he’s spot on about the conspiracy theory types, which made me laugh.
For all that we had to stay home the last two months, many of us out of work or on vastly reduced pay, now that we’re told we can start getting together again, there’s something to keep in mind for those of us without health insurance, or who have high deductible plans- As much as it cost to stay home because of this virus, I lost considerably more spending just 3 days in the hospital due to pneumonia.
3 days vs 60. Some other countries are relaxing their social distancing rules, too, but keep in mind, they’ve got health care systems that won’t bankrupt them if they get sick. Be smart when you go out in public.
Does anybody know how much immigration is currently taking place? Between the shutdown, the phenomenal drop in travel options and the various shelter in place orders by many countries, you can’t expect much in the way of immigration right now. But, to be fair, I don’t have the numbers in front of me.
But, he did say it was to protect us from the Invisible Enemy. The same Invisible Enemy he was just encouraging people to go out and protest the rules that we’re using to protect us against. And, I guess it’s also to protect those Jobs for all Americans. I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen too many opportunities around for hiring immigrants, if they somehow actually got approved under the current circumstances…
Or maybe I got it all wrong, and what he’s actually outlawing is illegal immigration. OK, that makes more sense now that I think about it. Of course, I’m really curious to know why he didn’t do that the first day he was elected. He’s wascally, I tell ya. #1 Supergenius.
