Got my Census in the mail today. Outside envelope even proclaimed it an official document. Inside wasn’t an official US Census, though, it was a solicitation to donate money couched in the form of a Republican Party questionnaire. They call it the Congressional District Census. I particularly liked the part where they give me the option to mail a check or just use my credit card….
I went Independent before the last election but they still want my money and support- especially my money. They asked me a bunch of questions I’m sure they don’t give a damn about, which pretty much sums up my relationship with both major parties at this point. Here’s the thing, though, if you want my money, ask for it. Don’t hide it behind an official looking mailer masquerading as a Constitutional mandate. And they wonder, not ironically, why their base is eroding.
