I don’t take part in discussions on FB much anymore. It has been pounded into me over and over again that people aren’t interested in an honest discussion. It’s not about understanding, or sharing a viewpoint- It’s about dictating a particular view to the exclusion of all else. Understanding, sympathy, compromise- those things require the ability to find common ground and build from there. You won’t find that in your average social media discussion. So these days I like to do things face to face over a cup of coffee or tea. Or, given the weather right now, hot chocolate with a bit of an 80 proof kick. Hopefully I’ll see some of you in person soon.

With that said, I still like to share intelligent view points. I don’t care whether you agree with them, or not, that’s not my job. Whatever I share will be thoughtful, reasonable and mostly backed by logic. Whatever you take from it is purely up to you.

I like Beau, he speaks reasonably, always backs his stuff up with verifiable data, and likes to poke holes in absurdist logic, regardless of where it originates. I thought I’d throw this out there for people to chew on as they like.

I chose the Shorter Whitman because of his work, "Song of Myself" and because of my self-deprecating sense of humor. I am under no illusion that I can write successful essays or poetry, but I have been known to write them anyway.
