Addendum to the 4th of July Post

So as an addendum to my 4th of July post, I have to point out that in a couple of separate posts, Jim Wright of Stonekettle fame said much more of what was on my mind.  He said it well, with proper emphasis on those four letter superlatives that drive a point home.  Coming from the background he does, he can offer a viewpoint from somebody who actively served in the military, which is one thing I cannot.

I encourage you to go read his stuff.  He writes better than I do, has far more experience, and has experienced far more than me.  To a Conservative, he’d be a Liberal.  To a Liberal, he’d be a moderate.  I happen to think he’s a pretty good representative of what compromise in American political views would look like.  Practical, messy, sometimes foul mouthed, but with the betterment of the Republic firmly in mind.

If you elect not to read him right now, or ever, just glance over my previous post and understand that Freedom is more than our soldiers, it’s more than a political or religious party, it’s our People.  And it’s a work in progress.

I chose the Shorter Whitman because of his work, "Song of Myself" and because of my self-deprecating sense of humor. I am under no illusion that I can write successful essays or poetry, but I have been known to write them anyway.
