I know my opinion will draw some heat but here it is. I sympathize with my home, Montana, and I won’t ever downplay anyone’s suffering, but more people have been displaced in the flooding than 20% of our entire state. Imagine Billings, Helena and Great Falls all empty and under water. Our governor needs to do his job and advocate for assistance to fight the fires, but it isn’t the same. Compassion isn’t a contest, and federal aid can multitask, but I’m seeing a lot of “but what about us posts”. Our state has been on fire for half the summer, made the news many times and we’re dealing with it. Texas has been under water for 5 days, let them have a bit of the media’s focus, God knows most of us Montanans wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
