Ah, what a day! Good thing it is only Thursday, that still leaves Friday to turn this into a better week than it started, which is the way I prefer to end my weeks – better than the last one.

On the awesome side, my boys got to experience getting their first gi tonight. Made dad kind of emotional…don’t laugh, I really do have feelings, somewhere. My boys have been attending Kara Ho Kempo for about 6 weeks and they are now allowed to wear a gi. Hopefully soon they will be able to earn their white belt so they can hold their pants up. It has been a lot of fun to see their growth in a short amount of time and I look forward to seeing them continue to grow.

Of course, they have been badgering me to join them, so tonight was my first night back in a class in roughly ten years. I have a background in several martial arts styles and so I can at least remember what it was like to be able to do the moves they are asking us to do, but my style these days can best be summed up as either Sleeping Panda or Fat Cobra. Either way it could use some work. 🙂 Still, it was nice to hit a bag again. I’m looking forward to next class…and a bottle of ibuprofen.

I chose the Shorter Whitman because of his work, "Song of Myself" and because of my self-deprecating sense of humor. I am under no illusion that I can write successful essays or poetry, but I have been known to write them anyway.
