NPO – A New Political Order

We have a two party system, I don’t think that will go away. We’re creatures of habit in the U.S., you could say it’s a tradition of ours. It might be time we changed them, though.

So how do we go about changing parties, given that 3rd parties tend to be stillborn? We stop using the ones we have. President Obama probably most successfully used the younger, more tech savvy crowd than any president before or since. Even today there is a massive disconnect between the ones that understand current technology and those who do not.  In an interesting turn about, President Trump was awfully successful at using technology(Twitter) to make others doubt the efficacy of theirs.  Fact checking sites, news sites, etc. became fake news.  Meanwhile sources of gossip and extreme blogs became trusted news sources.  Suddenly the world’s largest research library was reduced to a place where the only thing you trusted was outrage and videos of kittens.  Pathetic.

With that said, how about it?  Anyone want to gestalt(yes, I used a noun as a verb) a new party into place?  Some sort of middle zone where social awareness can meet smaller government and economic accountability without being considered a traitor to one’s party?  A party that knows that operational security is not the same as free from oversight, but also knows that spying is a valid government service – when not used on its own citizens.  Where science and religion can co-exist, without being seen as mortal enemies.  OK, so maybe that last one is a bit tough to form some palatable policy around, but it needs to be addressed before we allow Foodbabe and Dr Oz to formulate our scientific policy.  There’s a lot to consider, but we need some moderation in our politics – a swing of the pendulum that brings us back towards the center, away from the rigid extremes.

What say you?

I chose the Shorter Whitman because of his work, "Song of Myself" and because of my self-deprecating sense of humor. I am under no illusion that I can write successful essays or poetry, but I have been known to write them anyway.
