I was going to add, “from our sponsors.” But I realized I don’t have any. Clearly I must monetize this blog, posthaste.
Senor Dave, I humbly request the opportunity to enjoy a cup of tea at our usual repast on Saturday. Please let me know if you’re available.
I have been neglecting my updates. This surprises no one. I have been trying to occupy myself with a few things. An acoustic guitar, a jump rope, a curl bar and, starting Thursday, Kempo. My boys have been going for a little over a month now and are enjoying it.
If I am being honest, and I’m not saying I am, in case this is being recorded, but my children didn’t really have an option as to whether they “liked” the class or not, their attendance at martial arts is mandatory. Had they, or I, not cared for this school, then we would have moved on to another. When I first started looking where to take my kids, I was hoping to reconnect with the school where trained in American Kempo, which was they system put together by Ed Parker. It was flexible, logical and effective. The teacher there, Mr. John McFadden, was very good at what he did and he was an excellent instructor. He was also the first person who moved so fast I couldn’t see his strike coming. That was humbling experience. Unfortunately that school is no longer operation, so I looked around at other options and found another system Kempo, Kara Ho Kempo, being taught at the 4th Ave Dojo. After several weeks of watching classes and seeing how the instructor teaches his students, I would definitely recommend people interested in learning a martial art come visit his class.
And that is all for now, folks. *Cue porcine commentator*
